1 Registration – HCPC & CPD A run through what the expectations are for maintaining social work registration. A discussion as to what may constitute Continuous Professional Development. The Professional Capabilities Framework

2 “many are called, but few are chosen” HCPC require registration every 2 years For the majority, this constitutes a check list, including testifying that you have met the standards for CPD. For the select few, (2.5% - 1:40) it is a call to submit your portfolio to evidence that CPD, and relevance. Social workers in England; September - November 2014

4 Standards 1)maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of your CPD activities Summary sheet, how/when recorded, are they part of a PDP, who / how approved 5) you must fill in and return a CPD profile, and evidence of your CPD, when we ask you to.

5 Standards 2) demonstrate that your CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current or future practice What different types of learning activity have you undertaken? eg training, reflection, studying, direct observation, shadowing, teaching/mentoring/ supervising, research, action learning etc. How is your CPD relevant to your current or future work? To what parts of your role? How did you identify your learning needs, choose your CPD activities, and mix of learning? Suggest relate chosen learning to domain & level within PCF

6 Standards 3&4) must seek to ensure that your CPD has contributed to the quality of your practice and service delivery and that your CPD benefits the service user. Updated knowledge and skills over the past two years? How has this learning affected how you work? How has your learning benefited your service users?
