Brama Opatowska - Sandomierz Casimir the Great were built with walls four gates. Closest to the castle from the south gate was demolished around Cracow 1770, from the east gate of Fisheries, also known as the Lublin destroyed even in the seventeenth century and the north at the exit gate of the current street Sokolnicki Zawichojska and the only existing gate Opatowska today. Built of brick on a plan similar to a square, with the passage of a typical Gothic pointed arch of cut- stone surrounds. In the mid-sixteenth century, the Renaissance, the gate was raised and crowned with an attic. On the upper floors of the gate are preserved once the transition leading to the ramparts narrow windows and shooting, and on both sides of the gate - the largest surviving fragments of walls. On the north side rails are preserved for once to leave the harrow (probably wooden) fore and side walls. In the years 1925-1926 were made of reinforced concrete slab which is still an observation deck with a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.

The square used to be a court-yard of the royal castle, proteced from the south with walls. The present shape is a result of renovation done by Jakub Kubicki. His design included pulling down part of the walls and some buildings in front of the casle. The King Zygmunt`s column is the oldest monument in Polannd showing a historical figure. It was built in 1644 bbbbby King Władysław lV to commemorate his father, King Zygmunt lll Waza. „To the mostoutstanding parent, in 1643, it was built to the one who does or should recive fame, a crown and gratitude from the posterity’’, reads a fragnent of the Ltin inscription on the palaque. The sculpture of the ruler was made by Clementene Molli from Bologona. The 275-centimetre- high bronze figure in armour, with a sword and cross in his hands, and a crown on his head, was cast by Daniel Tym.

Bartek Oak-green giant. Though not the oldest, contrary to a popular opinion,Bartek is undoubtedly one of the most famous trees in Poland,having only three other giant oaks to rival with;Lech, Czech and Rus in Rogalin near Poznań.The tree was already mentioned in in 19th century tourist guides and magazines, where it was said to be a conpemprory of King Bolesław the Brave. Between World Wars it was even belived to be 1200 years old. In 1934 distinguished botanist Władysław Szafer presided over the works of a special committee that called Bartek „The most magnificet Polish tree”
