How Do You “Write” in ASL?

Glossing Notes Glossing- fancy for writing ASL ASL has no written language Dashes for finger-spelling You can just use the dashes don’t have to write (fs) No extra words-example: is, are, etc. When you are writing what you are going to say, write in all caps (for signs) Pronouns are not capitalized (I, you, me, we, them, etc.)

Examples English- Can you join me tomorrow? ASL- TOMORROW you-JOIN-me you-JOIN-me is connected because you show JOIN moving from the other person to yourself. (don’t actually sign you and me) English- Today is a good time to practice. ASL- TODAY GOOD TIME PRACTICE
