4. S TEP 3 HYPOTHESIS I think potatoes will not grow roots with out soil, sunlight, and water.

5. S TEP 4 INTERESTING FACTS 1. EACH YEAR THERE MORE THAN 1,000,000 ACRES. 2. IN OCTOBER 1995 THE POTATO BECAME THE 1 VEGTABLE GROWN IN SPACE. 3. FRENCH FRIES WERE INTRODUCED TO THE U.S BY THOMAS JEFFERSON WHEN HE WAS PRESADENT. 4. POTATOES WILL GROW ROOTS WITHOUT SOIL. 5. POTATOES WILL GROW ROOTS WITHOUT SUNLIGHT.

6. S TEP 5 EXPERIMENT Materials *Potatoes *Paper Bags *Rubber Bands Instructions I got 8 potatoes and 8 paper bags I cut the potatoes in 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,and 8. I got 8 Rubber bands I put them in 8 Paper Bags and tied them up then I put them in a dark cool place for 2 weeks. They all were put in paper bags. They were all Russet potatoes. They were put into a cold dark place. They were cut in different sizes.

7. S TEP 6 O BSERVATIONS 1. I noticed that the smaller you cut them the less roots they grow. 2. The ones cut up into many pieces dried up and didn’t grow roots. 3. I was surprised that any roots grew at all. 4. I thought all plants needed sun and soil to grow.

16. ANALYSIS OF DATA When I opened the bags I saw that bag 1 did not have any roots but bag 2 and 3 grew the most roots. Then when I opened the paper bags I saw that the bigger potatoes grew more roots.

17. CONCLUSION CLEARY, the more you cut the potatoes the less roots grow. Potatoes will grow without sunlight, soil and water.
