Introduction The building block of fats and oils are fatty acids. Fatty acids come in three different form- 1) Saturated 2) Unsaturated 3) Polyunsaturated

Fatty acids Saturated - Usually solid at room temperature. - Examples: Butter, cheese Unsaturated - Usually liquid at room temperature. - Examples: Olive oil, Peanut oil

Fatty Acids Polyunsaturated - Usually liquid at room temperature. - Examples: Fish oil, Soybean oil

Experiment Obtain five different fruit from the ziploc bag. Obtain the “Which Food Has More Fat?” worksheet. Write down the name of the food in the blanks. Rub the food in the circular area. Let it dry for five minutes. Rate your food from 1 to 5. 1 being the food with the least fat, and 5 being the food with the most fat.
