2 Setting Analysis Grade 3 English classroom 24 students (14 with an IEP) Computer lab available twice a week Internet connection Some computers in the classroom All students have computers at home Resource teacher available

3 Duration 3 week span 2 times a week in class (rotations) Lab periods Duration may vary depending on students progression in their designated pairs

4 Instructional Material What is the assignment?: – Conduct research pertaining to a culture – China, Italy, Jamaica, Canada, France, England, Ireland, Russia, Spain, Greece, India, Australia – Teams of two (IEP + stronger student) Guiding question: – What is your chosen country known for? Find the population Describe elements of everyday life (food, clothing, entertainment, customs) Indicate a transportation route Describe the seasons/climate Instructional strategies: – Cooperative learning – Interactive learning – Scaffolding and Mentoring

5 Q.E.P Geography – understanding the organization of a society and its territory – present their understanding of this organization in a production – looking at the characteristics of a society, the association of people and events, etc. Language arts – use of language in communicating and learning – evaluation of websites – reading information-based texts

6 Goals & Objectives – For students to conduct research in pairs pertaining to a specific country – To complete the tasks set out for them in the WebQuest – To present to their findings to the class in a creative manner

7 Evaluation – Progression of Learning (WebQuest) Information regarding demographic, cultural, economic state of their chosen country and the limitations of its territory – Personal online journal entry Insightfulness, organization, individual work – Oral presentation knowledge and creativeness i.e. present a type of food, dress in native costumes Use of technology is optional (power point, Wix, IMovie) – According to rubric
