7 Rules of Engagement … 1.You are NOT allowed to raise your hand. 2.You are NOT allowed to answer until you are called upon. 3.You are NOT allowed to say ANYTHING until you have thought about your answer AND discussed it with at least one other person. 4.You must end your “yes” or “no” answers with a because (reason) statement. 5.Answers must be in this form: Statement: Reason: Evidence

8 The wolf in Little Red Riding Hood is very clever. Thoroughly explain, using evidence from the story, three ways you can tell that the wolf is clever. Would these be good answers? Remember the Rules of Engagement! 1.The wolf shows he is clever when he meets Little Red Riding Hood in the forest. 2.The wolf shows he is clever when he gets to Granny’s house and disguises his voice to sound like Granny. He does this so that Little Red Riding Hood will think it is her and come close to her bed so that he can eat her. 3.The wolf shows he is clever when he dresses as the Grandmother so that Little Red Riding Hood will be at ease and not suspect he is a wolf! 4.The wolf shows he is clever when he hears footsteps outside the door.

(Evidence) 3.Justify each reason in my answer with plenty of specific evidence. (Evidence)

10 My Turn! I think the Middle Colonies, made up of New York,Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania would have been my choice for the best place to live among the thirteen original colonies. 1.One reason I would have chosen the Middle colonies is because of the diversity of the people who settled there. I think it would have been very nice to have people from different countries to learn from and share their cultures. Some of the other colonies did not have the diversity of the people that the Middle colonies offered. 2.Another reason I would have chosen the Middle colonies is because of my religion. Since there were a lot of Catholics in Maryland, I would have had a lot of people with whom I could worship. New information Because Reason Statement Evidence Details Another Because Reason Evidence Details

23 My Answer The house that I would choose is # 1, the wooden ranch style house. 1.One reason I would choose it is because it is located in the kind of place I am used to living. For most of my life, I have lived in the country somewhere in Kentucky. This house looks like it could be located somewhere in Kentucky, and the others are either in foreign countries or big cities. 2.Another reason I would choose house #1 is that I love wood siding. It has a very homey and rustic look that I really enjoy, rather than the cold-looking castle or the adobe-like desert home. Here’s my choice! Here’s my first reason. Here’s my evidence.
