4. Introduction F Establish the background for the problem F Define the problem clearly F Establish need for the research F Set bounds on research F Establish any assumptions F Explain benefits if problem is solved. F Explain consequences if problem not solved

5. Review of the Literature F Report on current literature (< 5yrs old) F Recognized authorities -- not friends or co-workers F Literature should relate to your problem F Some findings may support your problem F Some findings may not support your work
