When Reading Non-Fiction… Pay attention to: How does the author use the text structures to help me learn new information? What are the interesting facts/ideas that stand out? Does the author raise any questions that I should answer? What do you think this means: “We read to learn, and then write, and talk to teach.” “We read to learn, and then write, and talk to teach.”

Font and Text Effects Colubrids constitute the largest snake family in the world. Mostly harmless, these snakes move quickly and have well developed eyes and slender tails. Heading and Bullets Headings - are the title of a page, section or chapter Bullets-draw attention to specific facts

Chart or Table a compact, orderly arrangement of words, numbers, etc, usually in columns or a concise list or guide (as in Table of Contents)
