Methods of Teaching God’s Word: “Pulpit Preaching,” Nehemiah 8:1-4. –What we do when we assemble to worship God, Acts 20:7. –What Jesus did, Matthew 5-7. –Has Certain Advantages. –Has Certain Disadvantages. Radio. The Internet. Printed Literature.
2
Personal Evangelism – one of the most Effective Ways: The apostle Paul used both the “pulpit” and personal evangelism. –He taught “publicly,” Acts 20:20, and: –“from house to house.” So often we use the former and neglect the latter.
3
The Urgent Need in the Church Today: Christians who can, and will, talk to people about their souls, the need to introduce them to the gospel, Romans 1:16. Specifically, we are talking about the need for Personal Evangelism. –There is no greater or more enduring work, Proverbs 11:30; Daniel 12:3; Matthew 16:26!
4
Why Every Christian Should Be a Personal Evangelist: Because of the Responsibility Placed upon me by the Great Commission. To Be like Christ, I Peter 2:21. –As His disciples we should strive to be like Jesus, Matthew 10:25: Luke 6:40. Because God wants all people to be saved, 2 Peter 3:9; I Timothy 2:4. –If we really love the Lord we will want what He wants! 2 Corinthians 5:14.
5
Why Every Christian Should Be A Personal Evangelist (continued) Because we are debtors, Romans 1:14,15. Because we are God’s priesthood, I Peter 2:8. Old Testament Priests: –They studied the law. –They taught the people. Lest the blood of others be upon our hands, Acts 20:26,27; 18:6; Ezekiel 3:18.

“Betrayed,” by J.D. Higgins “My friend, I stand in judgment now, and feel that you’re to blame somehow. While on this earth I walked with you day by day. And never did you point the way. You knew the Lord in truth and glory, But never did you tell the story
7
My knowledge then was very dim. You could have led me safe to him. Though we lived together on earth, You never told me of your second birth. And now I stand this day condemned, Because you failed to mention Him. You taught me many things, that’s true, I called you friend and trusted you. But now I learned, now it’s too late. You could have kept me from this fate. We walked by day and talked by night. And yet you showed me not the light
8
“Betrayed,” continued: You let me live, love and die. And all the while you knew I’d never live on high. Yes, I called you friend in life, And trusted you in joy and strife. Yet in coming to this end, I see you really weren’t my friend.”

Why Every Christian Should be a Personal Evangelist (con’t) To Save ourselves! –We must bear fruit, John 15:2,6,8. –Remember the one talent man, Matthew 25:26,30. –Illus. The man crossing a mountain in a snow storm. To receive real joy ! Philippians 4:1; 3 John 4; Daniel 12:3; Luke 15:7; I Thessalonians 2:19,20.

Conclusion: Army General: “All the technology in the world will never eliminate the need for the foot soldier.” The church in the first century was short on “technology,” but they had many “foot soldiers,” Acts 8:4. Before we can save others we must first “save” ourselves, Acts 2:40!
