Polar Bears of the Arctic Body Language and Movement
2
Polar Bears may not have voices like us, but just like humans they can communicate by using their body language!
3
Human Body Language Humans can use their body language to communicate moods or opinions just as well as with words! With the person next to you, practice your body language to depict these emotions: -Angry -Sad -Happy -Alone -Amazed
4
Asking for something in particular. Bears who use their please and thankyous properly, just like this, often manage to get a bit of another's food!
5
Time to play! Polar bears who stand up on their hind legs are often showing to another that they are ready for a practice, or ‘mock’ fight. They very rarely take this stance when they are actually threatened, due to it being an awkward position to strike or run from.
6
Stay away! A polar bear on all fours with its head lowered and teeth showing should be avoided at all costs. This is a classic example of aggressive body language. They will often create hissing and snorting noises in this stance to warn off potential threats.
7
Okay, okay, I give! During play fighting one polar bear will often be victorious, and the other will ‘give up’ and wave the white flag by rolling onto it’s back and becoming limp!
