2 May 1942 American and Australian forces stopped a Japanese fleet from reaching Australia after a five day battle.

3 June 3, 1943 American Admiral Chester Nimitz defended the island from a Japanese fleet. American torpedo planes and dive bombers attacked Japanese carriers. The Japanese fleet lost four aircraft carriers, a cruiser, and 250 planes.

4 October 1944 –January 1945 8 German tanks, under a dense cloud of fog, broke thought an 80 mile front of weak American troops. This is where is battle got its name. By the end of this battle Germany has lost 120,000 troops, 600 tanks and assault guns, and 1,600 planes that could not be replace.

5 On June 6, 1944, Allied British, American, and Canada forces attacked beaches in Europe.

6 Secretive research directed by J. Robert Oppenheimer and led by General Leslie Groves.

7 Civil rights leader, James Farmer founded this interracial organization to stop segregation.

8 February 19, 1942 President Roosevelt gave this order, justifying it by saying that it was needed for national security.

9 February 1945 American President Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Churchill, and USSR leader Stalin met to talk after the defeat of Germany.

10 May 8, 1945 General Eisenhower accepted the unconditional surrender of the Third Reich.
