3 Community Chest vs Community Impact Community Impact Model  Prioritize one or two community issues to address  Provide Education to broader community on the issue(s)  Dedicate Workforce campaign dollars to address the issues  Evaluation of success is based on the impact on community members  United Way serves as facilitator for leveraging resources (dollars, people, ideas, infrastructure) Community Chest Model  Dedicated Workforce and community campaign to raise funds  Dollars distributed annually to approved agencies  Evaluation of success was based on dollars raised  Limited collaboration or collective action to address specific community issues

4 Sedalia-Pettis County Community Impact Goal: Increase the Median Household Income in Pettis County by ????? Focus on Education: Early Childhood Education for all children Third Grade Reading levels Attendance rates 90%/90%

5 2016-2019 Grant Application Dates Open- February 15, 2016 Close Date- must be uploaded by 5 pm on March 18, 2016

6 CI Details The intent of the United Way Community Impact funding is to support efforts around: Readiness for kindergarten Improving third grade reading levels Decreasing chronic absences in school Applications for funding must align with at least one of these strategies and provide an explicit target outcome – specific improvements sought in the lives of the defined community population. Successful applications will incorporate evidence based practices or document best practices. Examples of evidence based practices can be found on the SPCUW website under the "Education" tab.

7 United Way Impact funds may not be spent: 1.To replace other funds currently being spent on this education initiative. 2.Capital campaigns, to purchase buildings or other real estate. 3.To reduce existing deficits. 4.To support the applicant’s out-of-county activities.

8 Disbursement of Funds to Grantees Successful applicants will receive 75% of their annual funding in July and 25% after the completion of the annual report. The subsequent annual funding will follow the annual and mid-year reviews.

9 Program Funding Request Form This is to communicate/document the program revenue specific to the program for which funding is sought-July to June over a three year period.

10 Program Report Form This is to be completed after each year of the grant to report: Activities and Services Outputs Program Outcomes Indicators

11 Budget Report Form This is to be completed after each year of the grant to report: How the grant dollars were utilized.

12 Community Impact Participation Agreement This will be awarded to the successful application and will be the MOU between the SPCUW and organization implementing the CI goals.
