Monitoring system in Vojvodina Bogdana Vujic, M.Sc Senior expert Executive Council of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Provincial Secretariat for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development

Low on Environmental Protection Republic, autonomous provinces as well as municipalities have obligation to assure continual control of environment condition (monitoring). Autonomous provinces, as well as municipalities have obligation to bring Monitoring Program for its own territory according to the Republic Monitoring Program Republic, autonomous provinces as well as municipalities have obligation to assure money for monitoring

 Monitoring in Vojvodina had two stages: I Preliminary monitoring (September 2002. – March 2003.) with goal to record “zero” condition of environment condition II Program monitoring (from April 2003):  Aquatic ecosystems monitoring,  Soil monitoring,  Biomonitoring,  Air quality monitoring,

 Aquatic ecosystems I Monitoring was based on measurement of chemical, biological and physical parameters in water and sediment examples collected in water bodies which are situated mostly on the natural protected areas. II Monitoring of arsenic concentration in wells which are in use for water supply of habitants  Soil monitoring : I Agricultural and non agricultural soil II Soil near industry complexes (chemical, microbiological and radiological measurements)

Monitoring of Paenia officinallis subsp. banatica rare and endangered species their habitats, migration, distribution and population dynamics. Biomonitoring

 Bylaw on limit values, imision measurement methodology, criteria for location of measurement points and data recording  Regulation on submitting Program of Air quality control Air Quality monitoring

What was done till now? From september 2002. till the end of 2005. air quality monitoring was done on 34 sites distributed in 21 settlement in Vojvodina 45% of Vojvodina habitants were comprised with air quality monitoring

Air quality monitoring comprised  All industrial centers  Some small settlements which are endangered with air pollutants from different sources  measurement sites were settled in:  Industrial  Residential  Downtown zones

Monitoring of Inhalatory alergenes  Ruma, Novi Sad and Subotica  Data exchange with Szeged, Osijek, Belgrade and Temisoara www. nspolen. com

Monitoring of Indoor air quality  Radon concentration was measured in over 1000 homes in Vojvodina  Radon map of Vojvodina

Priority  AS network  Apply unique methodology and  Gain valid and comparable data

Air monitoring station in Zrenjanin  Analisators:  Sulphur-dioxide,  Hydrogen-sulfide,  BTEX  Total uspendedparticles (TSP),  Carbon-monoxide  Nitrogen oxides (NO-NO 2 -NO x ),  Ozone (O 3 )  Equipment for meteorolical measurements For completing stations there is need for analisators for Total Hydrocarbons

New air monitoring network I Industry centers: II Natural protected areas: 1. Deliblatska peščara 2. Obedska bara 1. Subotica, 2. Sombor 3. Novi Sad 4. Kikinda 5. Zrenjanin 6. Pancevo

Subotica Novi Sad Sombor Kikinda Deliblatska pescara Obedska bara Zrenjanin Pancevo AS Network

Information on environment quality  Law on environmental protection  Data on environment quality are accessible to the public  Report to the Autonomous Parlament every second year  Low on free access to Information of Public Importance  Air Quality data to SEPA -yearly

 Data are not measured nor collected by unique methodology  Data are in possession of different institutions  There are different data basis
