Environmental Tobacco Smoke ( ETS) (Vocab) Secondhand smoke. Air that has been contaminated by tobacco smoke. 2 types of ETS: Mainstream Sidestream

Mainstream Smoke (Vocab) Smoke that is exhaled from the lungs of a smoker.

Sidestream Smoke (Vocab) Smoke that comes from the burning end of a cigar, cigarette or pipe. (Most Dangerous)

Smoking While Pregnant Babies of mothers who smoke during pregnancy or who are exposed to ETS are more likely to die from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Infants exposed to ETS after birth are twice as likely to die of SIDS

Parents That Smoke Children of smokers tend to have higher incidence of sore throats, ear infections, and upper respiratory problems than children of non-smokers. More likely to have weaker lungs than children of non-smokers. Twice as likely to become smokers themselves.
