2  S+V+O = simple sentence Ex: These students live in the halls of residence.  Complex sentences= 2 or more clauses in 1 sentence Ex: S+V+O (main clause) + subordinate clause. These students live on campus although their family lives in Hong Kong. Ex: S+V+O (main clause) + relative clause. These students live in the halls of residence which are just behind the main campus.

3 1. Learn about the various sentence structures (especially with linking words and relative pronouns) 2. Be aware of the differences between Chinese and English (i.e: you can use 2 linking words in one sentence in Chinese Although…but / Because…so…BUT NOT in English) 3. Read as often as possible to become familiar with correct sentence structures
