Summary…Five years past by  Fiyero finds Elphie in Emerald City  They began to have an affair with each other  Fiyero was married with 3 kids  Fiyero meets Glinda & Crope and finds out that they are married to each other  Elphie tells Fiyero about the planned attack on Madame Morrible  Fiyero is murdered by anonymous!!!!!!  Elphie goes to sister Yackle and becomes a nun/sister after she finds out about the murder

4. Elphie’s Happiness  Does it seem like Elphie is more happier with her life in Emerald city than her  Childhood?  In college?

5. Secret Societies  Do you think the Oz sent Gale Force to go kill Elphaba but instead they got Fiyero?  In the book 1984, there was a secret police to get those who did not agree with Big Brother. Do you think this is similar?

6. Holocaust  Does certain parts of this section remind you of the Holocaust?  Capturing Jews could be similar to capturing Animals

7. Glinda suspicions  Does Glinda suspect that Fiyero really knows where Elphie is? Do you think she knows that they have an affair?  “Before you go- I can see you’re getting ready to dash- dear, dear Fiyero- what do you hear from Elphaba? Pg 270  “If you should see her… tell her I miss her still. Pg 272

8. Unfaithfulness  Fiyero has an affair with Elphie but she states  “I don’t exist… so you’re still not being unfaithful either.” pg 246 Just because you don’t exist does that mean you’re unfaithful?

9. Summary  Elphie comes out of the sisterhood and travels to Kiamo Ko, assisted with Liir.  Along the way she meets Princess Nastoya who tells her to disguise herself as a witch  Elphie finds a winged monkey and names him Chistery & takes care of him.  Elphie arrives at Kiamo Ko and meets Sarima, her children and sisters 2-6  Elphie lives with Sarima, but is unable to tell her about the affair she had with her husband  Elphie teaches “Chistery” how to speak a couple of words

10. Summary Continued  The children are playing hide-and-seek and Manek puts Liir in a well  Nanny arrives to Kiamo Ko and describes how Emerald City has worsened  The next day Liir is found drowned in a well and they save him  Manek dies from a “icicle” muahahahaha!!!!

11. MotherHood  Does Elphie display motherly instincts?  Do you think she is worse than her mom or better?

12. Denial  Why do you think Elphie denies Liir as her son?  “And the boy what’s he called?” Elphie shrugged (pg. 291)

13. Normality  Why is Liir normal when he was conceived through adultery?  When Elphie is abnormal and supposedly conceived through adultery?  Do does this change your mind about who Elphie’s father is?

14. Foreshadowing  “Icicles hung from the eaves in dangerous daggers, melting like mad (pg. 356)  Do you think this foreshadows Manek’s death?

15. Prediction  What do you think is going to happen next?  Do you think they are going to find out Elphie killed Manek?  Will Sarima find out about the affair?  What’s going to happen to “Chistery”?
