Sensory Musical Elements – (Physiological phenomena) Melody – a sequence of sounds of varying pitch, normally constant timbre and slightly varied durations, pleasing to the ear. Rhythm – normally patterned combinations of sound durations. Texture – sound fabric made up of choice of instruments or density of simultaneous sounds.

Musical Elements Interval – The pitch distance between two adjacent or simultaneous sounds. Intervals can be consonant or dissonant. Cadential – that which brings a melody, harmonic progression or section to a close.

Motif – a short, recurring melodic configuration. Figuration – patterns of sounds normally repeated in sequence on different pitch levels. For Example: G e b A f c B g d etc. Or another example:76,65,54,43 / 76,65,54,43 65,54,43,32 / 65,54,43,32/ ag,gf,fe,ed
