PERCENT YIELD
2
Percent Yield Percent yield is the ratio of actual yield of an experiment to theoretical yield. To find percent yield, you divide the actual yield by the theoretical yield and multiply by 100. A problem will give you the actual amount but you need to calculate the theoretical amount through stoichiometry.

Example 1 C 5 H 12 + 8O 2 5CO 2 + 6H 2 O If you produce 10 moles of H 2 O from 15 moles of O 2, what is the percent yield? actual theoretical
4
Example 2 C 5 H 12 + 8O 2 5CO 2 + 6H 2 O If you produce 12 moles of CO 2 from 5 moles of C 5 H 12, what is the percent yield? actual theoretical
5
Practice 1 - Change #s and comp C 5 H 12 + 8O 2 5CO 2 + 6H 2 O If you produce 35 moles of H 2 O from 8 moles of C 5 H 12, what is the percent yield?
6
Practice 2 C 5 H 12 + 8O 2 5CO 2 + 6H 2 O If you produce 4 moles of CO 2 from 9 moles of O 2, what is the percent yield?
7
Practice 3 C 5 H 12 + 8O 2 5CO 2 + 6H 2 O If you produce 10 moles of H 2 O from 14 moles of O 2, what is the percent yield?
