TALK TO AN ELBOW PARTNER AND TALK ABOUT THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS 1.What does it mean to be a hero? 2.What does it mean to be heroic? 3.How does someone prove they are a hero?

TYPES OF HEROISM

HERO VS THE WORLD Someone who displays heroism against impossible odds. Individual heroes find themselves in a dire situation. Only the individual hero can save themselves.

GOOD SAMARITAN HEROISM The Good Samaritan sacrifices himself for the good of someone else. The Good Samaritan is selfless and prefers to be anonymous. The Good Samaritan feels he fails if someone dies he is trying to protect.

GROUP HEROISM Group Heroism deals with a group of people trying to save an individual, OR An Individual sacrificing for the group. Group Heroism believes if you have saved one life you have saved the world OR It is worth sacrificing yourself so others may live.

MENTOR HERO 1.The mentor hero is someone who exemplifies heroism to others. 2.The mentor hero mainly feel he is heroic, but hopes to guide someone else to feel or become heroic. 3.The mentor hero is an ordinary person whose wisdom will hopefully guide someone else towards greatness.

ANTI-HERO An Anti-Hero is someone who defies the normal conventions of heroes such as bravery, righteous, and a sense of justice. The anti-hero may be cowardly The anti-hero may make bad choices The anti-hero may be hated by society The anti-hero may be both a hero and a villain

SKILLS Effectively able to annotate a text Successfully able to decode vocabulary using Context Clues Contribute to a discussion by asking questions and engaging others Collect and analyze evidence tied to a theme
