1. The Curve Problem at Virginia tech campus

2. Time of day: 5:20 p.m. Date: September 4-2012 Day: Tuesday Location: drillfield and stranger St. at Virginia Tech campus, Blacksburg.

3. Brief: The Drillfield has an elliptic shape. As such, curving can become quite dangerous in some points. Parking a car at one of these points can be a problem. Also, there is an intersection any vehicle passes in it should yield towards other vehicles coming from the curve. Not to mention the cross walking for the student.

5. As a result, there are two problems may happen: -The first one: is car crash. -The second: is traffic jam.

6. Description: At the intersection in front of Patton hall we came across some issues which need to be addressed. The meeting point between the Drill field St. and Stanger St. appears to be a crash point for several reasons. These reasons are having one way to move in and the parking lot is right beside it. The other reason is having a Crosse point just after the curve.

8. The first problem: trying to exit the parking lot while the vehicles are coming from the curve. -There is a blind point where the exiting vehicle can not see the incoming vehicles from behind which may cause accidents.

9. The other problem: is causing a traffic jam from incoming vehicles in both Drill Field and Stanger streets,and vehicles exiting from the parking lot. When all these happen in the same time at the same point it creates the traffic jam.

10. In conclusion, the best solution for the Previous mentioned problems are: -Not to allow any vehicles park at the curve area. -If this is not possible due to the need of parking space then there should be a traffic officer to control the traffic.
