3 PRE-AP OR NOT? If you are in academic math, you need to take academic math next year. Otherwise, you will miss an entire year of pre- Algebra. If you are doing really well in academic math, please plan to take pre-AP Algebra in 9 th grade. If you are in academic math, pre-AP Science will be very difficult next year. They will be learning physics concepts in the first nine weeks and you will not have had the necessary math in academic math. If you are making A’s in your academic LA and/or TX History classes, consider moving to pre-AP!!

6 FINE ARTS Pre-AP Art is a High school fine arts credit. You can sign up for said class, but it will require Art teacher approval. Art Photography is a High school fine arts credit. If we run out of space we will randomly move kids out, and use their alternate elective choice. Middle school Art can be taken for a whole year or a semester. If you have never taken middle school art, choose Art 1, if you took it in 7 th or 8 th grade, choose Art 2, if you took it in 7 th and 8 th grade, choose Art 3.

7 ATHLETICS AND PE Football (Fall Athletics) Volleyball (Fall Athletics) Basketball (Fall Athletics or Fall PE, and tryouts ) Track (Spring Athletics) Soccer (Spring Athletics and tryouts) Physical Education-dance/aerobics You may not choose VB and PE-dance Physical Education * Students must have four semesters of PE or athletics over the course of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade *Physicals Required for Athletics *Cross Country – not a PE credit, practice before or after school

8 ALTERNATE PE Category One – 15 hours a week. Must be Monday- Friday. Weekend hours do NOT count. Category Two – 5 hours per week- must be Monday-Friday. Must be taken at approved facility Application due May 1 st. Facility Applications are due April 1 st (check with your facility).

9 OTHER COURSE INPUT INFO Course Selection will be Monday or Tuesday during LA. You can make changes from home until spring break (March 11). You will get a course verification letter in May at which time you can make changes with me. If you select Student Aide make sure to pick up an application (also available in the main office). Limited space available.

12 HOW TO DO COURSE SELECTION IN SKYWARD Login to your skyward account. Pull down the menu on the left that starts with Home, Calendar, Gradebook. Click on Schedule. Click under “Request Courses for 2016-2017”. Highlight a course on the left hand side, and click add course to move it to the right hand side. You should have a total of 15 requests when you are finished
