Map Projections Mercator Maps- show accurate shape and direction, but distort distance and size Gores- come in two forms same shape and equal area, both like a pealed orange Same shape- accurately show the shapes of land masses, but distort the size and distance between, farther from equator more stretched Equal area- correct size of landmasses, distort shapes, greater distortion at edges Robinson Maps- compromise between mercator and gores, overall picture of the world, distorts polar regions
