6 In 45 years BCHL teams have: Won the Doyle Cup (versus Alberta Junior A Champion) 17 out of last 26 seasons. Won the Royal Bank Cup (Junior A National Championship) 9 out of last 21 years. Proudly produced numerous: Players who went on to play in the WHL. Players who went on to play in the NHL. Players who went on to star in US and Canadian Universities and Colleges. Players who went on to successful business careers. 7 BCHL …. SMART HOCKEY 2006-2007 Highlights; Over 50 Division 1 NCAA scholarship commitments by end of regular season play. Burnaby Express center Kyle Turris projected to be in the top 5 at 2007 NHL player draft. BCHL lead (10 players selected to team) first- ever World Junior A Challenge Championship. 2003/04 Salmon Arm Silverbacks’ Travis Zajac jumps to NHL New Jersey Devils in 2006/07. Two former BCHL players make final 10 for 2007 NCAA Hobey Baker Award. Last season’s BCHL scoring leader Brandon Wong leads this season’s Quinnipiac Warriors in scoring with 26g, 27a in 38 games played. Player Advancement: Since 1970; 110 players drafted by NHL teams directly from the BCHL. 67 additional players drafted by NHL teams from colleges and universities following their play in the BCHL. 184 former BCHL players drafted from other leagues following their advancement. 212 former BCHL players have played at least one game in the NHL. 1300+ former BCHL players have graduated with post-secondary degrees. 8 BCHL …. SMART HOCKEY The BCHL is family entertainment with an average ticket price between $7-$10. BCHL teams raise and donate over $50,000 annually in support of local, provincial and national charities. 80% of the BCHL fan base consists of families….kids, grandparents, mom’s & dad’s. BCHL member teams in unison introduce Lorna Nicholson’s “Read to Succeed Program” in their local elementary and secondary schools. BCHL teams donate over 50,000 tickets annually to local charities, schools, youth groups, retirement homes and the handicap. BCHL teams participate in over 1,000 player and mascot appearances each year in schools. Community Connection:
