2. How is the Conference Conducted? Research Day is similar to external conferences, providing students with a conference experience The faculty review of papers approximates the standard peer review process of external conferences Sessions, session chairs, time monitored presentations Occasional keynote speakers 2012 – Dr. Fran Allen at centenary of Alan Turing’s birth 2011 – Accomplished students of Dr. Frank Rosenblatt, the inventor of neural networks called perceptrons 2014 Research Day

5. The Michael L. Gargano Annual Research Day The Research Day conference became “The Michael L. Gargano Annual Research Day” in 2009 Following Mike’s passing in 2008 Michael was continually engaged in research activities, often with the students He contributed several papers, often three or four, to the Research Day conference in the early years He advised many students in the DPS Program 2014 Research Day
