What is a toxic food? A toxic food is something that is ingested that provides so little of a nutrient, or an over-toxicity of nutrients that may harm our bodies.

What is a healing food? A healing food is often called a superfood. These are foods that help a person feel more upbeat, look leaner, sharpen your mind, and help reduce the risk of disease (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.)

Toxic Foods Refined sugar High consumption of sugar, and the corresponding elevated insulin levels, can cause weight gain, bloating, fatigue, arthritis, migraines, lowered immune function, gallstones, obesity, breast cancer, gum disease and cavities, and cardiovascular disease. Healing Food Strawberries The magic ingredient in these berries is fisetin, which halts the growth of cancerous cells while diminishing tumors' blood supply. Also good for: Blood sugar control, brain health

Toxic Food Hydrogenated oils, Trans Fats, and Acrylamides. Hydrogenated oils, with trans fats, are used because of their prolonged shelf life. Hydrogenated oils are made by heating oils with other elements and in a way that replaces healthy fatty acids with trans fats. Not only are these types of fat dangerous for the function of your heart, but they produce the perfect environment for the development of cancer. Acrylamides are fats that are created during the process of frying food. They have been shown to cause cancer in rats. fatty acids

Healing Foods Green Tea Like grapes, green tea defends against memory-robbing beta-amyloid, and it brims with antioxidant polyphenols, Also good for: Bone health, dental health, and boosting metabolism.

Toxic Food Energy Drinks A 24 oz can of monster has a caffeine equivalent to 7 cups of coffee. Most drinks are overloaded with sugar or aspartame which are linked to cancer. Energy drinks are also linked to heart disease; some have been correlated to stroke or even death.

Healing Food Bananas Banana’s are a great pre-work out food that provide a ton of energy, have plenty of potassium which keep the body from cramping, aid in digestion, help you sleep better, and keep your heart healthy.

Toxic Food Refined Carbohydrates Refining the carbohydrate removes all nutrients from the grain and will force your body to draw from their own storage of nutrients to metabolize the sugar; which puts additional stress on your pancreas, which will over-secrete insulin. This also removes all the fiber from the grain. –Causes obesity, Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, & high cholesterol.

Healing Food Oatmeal CLASSIC OATS, not the flavored packets; help raises levels of tryptophan, which helps your brain produce serotonin, which in turn triggers your body's production of melatonin. It’s also a high-fiber morning meal that’s been shown to help lower blood cholesterol levels, aid with digestion, and improve metabolism.

Toxic Food MSG or Monosodium Glutamate MSG is used to flavor food, since food no longer has real flavor because of over cooking and a variety of chemicals and pesticides used and lack of any nutrients left in over farmed soil - destroys nerve cells in the brain. This stuff is harmful because, it inhabits natural growth hormone and dramatically promotes irreversible obesity. Other reactions include headaches, nausea, weakness, a burning sensation in the back of neck and forearms, wheezing or difficulty in breathing, and changes in heart rate, pulse rate, and/or heart palpitation.

Omega 3’s Omega 3s you get in fish lower heart disease risk, help arthritis, and may possibly help with memory loss and Alzheimer's. Some evidence shows it reduces depression as well. Omega-3s are most prevalent in fatty, cold-water fish: Look for wild salmon, herring, sardines, and mackerel. Aim for two-to-three servings a week. Other forms are available in fortified eggs, flax seed, and walnuts. These superfoods have the added benefit of being high in monounsaturated fats, which can lower cholesterol.

Artificial Sweeteners Chemicals or natural compounds that replace the sweetness of sugar. Although, sugar free doesn’t always mean LOW CALORIE. Many studies have shown that artificial sweeteners actually increase your appetite. From hallucinations to seizures, to brain tumors, skin rashes, panic, diarrhea, headaches, bladder issues, stomach pain; the risks associated with artificial sweeteners are hardly worth saving calories.

Avocado Their healthy fat keeps you satisfied and helps you absorb other nutrients. One of the most nutrient-dense foods, avocados are high in fiber and, ounce for ounce, top the charts among all fruits for folate. potassium, vitamin E, and magnesium.
