5 5 SVH Recognition Process  ESTIMATED Timeline-After the initial request letter is received from the State: –6 – 9 Months: The Entire Process –1 – 2 Weeks: Once all materials are received –1 – 2 Months: Internal Concurrence Process

6 SVH Recognition Process Initial Contact  Send letter to Chief Consultant, GEC requesting recognition and certification  Letter must be signed by the State official authorized to establish the home. Please include: –FAI Number –Total numbers of beds with levels of care  Allow VA to survey the facility (State Home Regulation: 38 Part 51. Subpart B §51.20) 6

8 8 SVH Process SVH Recognition Process  Major Obstacles –Completion of the Survey Securing the proper number of residents prior to survey Indicating ALL standards are met –Collecting all the necessary forms

9 9 Recognition Survey  All documents in the Construction Grant phase must be completed  To be recognized the SVH must meet ALL standards set by VA  Per Diem is granted on the date all standards are met
