Word of the Week Learn a new root word every week. Practice throughout the week. Unit includes three years of word lists. Mrs. Smith helpforlearning@yahoo.com

Unit Directions On the first day of the week students copy the word part and definition to their notes as Bell Work or you can rotate between Word Knowledge Rating Scale, Student Guess and Word Parts worksheets found in Vocabulary Practice Unit. (You may give the students the Word of the Week list or the words one at a time.) The second day of the week, students use their Word of the Week on a practice worksheet. (Connect Two after they have more than two words) For all practice vocabulary worksheets see Vocabulary Practice Unit. Third quarter have student groups jigsaw the poster project to share with the class. Keep the groups to no more than four students. Students select one of the words from the word part list to create their poster. Use large sheets of butcher paper for this project.
