3. Community College: is it right for me? Three Community College Qualifications:  2.4 or Lower GPA ( on 4.0 scale)  Lower than a 16 ACT or 790 SAT  Not in top 65% (bottom 35%) If you have all three of these, you are most likely going to be attending CC next year. If you have 2, still a possibility. The 2.5 minimum GPA is the most strict

4. PLEASE NOTE: “I’m going to go to ACC” is NOT an excuse to miss class. You still have just as much work to do as everyone else. If anything, you might need to do even more. People do not succeed at a community college when they don’t treat it like college. That sentiment starts in high school.

5. Applying to College: 1. Make Apply TX account or Common Application (out of state). -> Next week. DO NOT submit anything without me looking over it. PLEASE. This academic semester WILL be viewed by colleges. DO. NOT. GET. IN. TROUBLE.

6. Two Types : *Need updated transcripts Assured/Automatic Admission : College, not college within (ie: School of Business) ** Class Rank and Test Score** -> Send Transcripts & Test Scores. BAM. DONE. Everyone else: Holistic Review= SEND EVERYTHING. ▫Test Scores ▫Transcripts ▫Recommendation Letters(2-3) ▫Essays ▫Resume!!!!

7. September- Mid/Late October Finalized Matrix Written, Completed & Perfected Essays Recommendation Letters Requested Official Transcripts Requested Apply Texas and/or Common Application created ▫If have out of state colleges, use common app. For those only. Use apply TX for your TX schools. WE will apply ( HIT SUBMIT) at the End of October/Early November.

8. Applications Due Date: Applied to 6 colleges BY November 21 st If you come back after Thanksgiving break and you have not applied to at least 6 colleges/universities, you are disenrolled, as per College Forward policy & curriculum You must send me confirmation you applied. Either screen shot your Apply TX, or forward me your confirmation email.

9. ACT/SAT: October fee waivers tomorrow, SIGN document SAT: October 11 th Registration: September 12 th -> class on Thursday ACT: October 25 th Registration: September 19 th You should have taken each test twice after October TWO fee waivers for each test registration only. ▫ACT, possible more. ▫SAT, 2 only.

10. To Do: September Double Check info I emailed (personal & cofo) Finalize your matrix Update your resume – make sure I edit Write essays in accordance with college reqs. Register for ACT & SAT. -> select colleges to send scores to that are different than the 1 st time. Ponder who you think would write you a kickass recommendation letter!
