3 --It is caused by the filarial worm or infected black flies. --Some conditions of River Blindness are: blindness, skin rashes, lesions, intense itching, and skin depigmentation. --Most commonly found in Africa.

4 --Rarely life threatening. --It is often called River Blindness. --180,000 people are infected in endemic nations. --500,000 are at risk in America for River Blindness.

5  -The world’s second leading cause of blindness.  -An estimated 18 million people suffer from onchocerciasis.  -Also known as Robles’ Disease.  -99% of it is in Africa.  -270,000 cases of blindness are related to the infection.  -The disease is called River Blindness because the black fly that transmits the infection lives and breeds near fast-flowing streams and rivers.

6 --The parasite only lives in Primates. --It can take up to one year for the larvae to develop into an adult inside the human body and between 10 and twenty months before larvae can be found in the skin.

7  -The recommended treatment Ivermectin, which will need to be given every six months for the lifespan of the adult worms, the form of the drug is given in a shot.
