== Ifigenia - the wiki on intuitionistic fuzzy sets and generalized nets == By Vassia Atanassova * ifigenia.wiki@gmail.com * http://www.ifigenia.org

== Why Ifigenia? == * Ifigenia comes from the initials of Intuitionistic Fuzzy sets and GENeralized nets. And it’s easy to remember due to the heroine from the Greek mythology, Iphigenia. * And because it sounds cute, main reason. :-) == Why IFS and GN? == * Both concepts were introduced by Prof. Krassimir Atanassov as generalizations of fuzzy sets and Petri nets, resp. * Despite being originally distant, in the long run these two areas of research turned out to be deeply related and mutually enriching.

== Why wiki? == * “Because ideas want to be free.” * “The simplest online database that could possibly work.” * Collaborative creation and edition of documents: ** uniquely identifiable edits with id, author and timestamp ** tracing page histories, version comparisons, reverts ** respect to everyone’s copyrights * Meaningful topic associations between hyperlinked pages * Enabling content consumers to become content contributors * Vast opportunities of control over the medium * Freely licensed software * Major drawback: not WYSIWYG

== Aims of Ifigenia == # Pay-free and freely licensed informational and educational resource of Wikipedia-like articles on IFS and GN, etc.: #* definitions of terms (examples, illustrations, references) #* articles on major publications, journals and conferences #* biographies / CVs of the researchers in the fields # Public online database of hardcopy materials for reading and download (papers, books, book chapters...) # Community discussions and brainstorming, exchange of ideas, announcement of forthcoming conferences and workshops, etc. # Public and private writing of joint papers, development of educational materials, project proposals, etc. # Sustainable partners networking In a word, the aim of Ifigenia is to help the areas of IFS and GN gain wider popularity and evolve

== Access and copyright policies == Ifigenia consists of three zones, distributed per namespace, which define three different access and copyright policies: * Public editable zone (all but 3 namespaces) * Public non-editable zone (namespace Issue:) * Private zone (namespaces Private: and Private talk:) The precise access and copyright policies can be determined after the official launch during the 7 th [[International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Generalized nets]] in Warsaw, Poland, 17 October 2008. My proposal for these two policies is the following:

== Access and copyright policies == === Public editable zone === Contains: * Articles in the main NS * Personal user pages of registered users: User: NS * Community pages in Ifigenia: NS and Draft: * Image: NS, Category: NS, Template NS: * Discussion namespaces: Talk: NS, User talk: NS, etc. Proposal: * The public editable zone is accessible to all users – both registered and anonymous can read and write there. * Editors agree to license their contributions under the free license Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY). If this condition is not okay with you, please do not participate. Participation is voluntary.

== Access and copyright policy == === Public non-editable zone === Contains: * The Issue: namespace with electronic copies of printed publications Proposal: * Both registered and anonymous users have read rights. * Only the administrator has write rights: no changes are supposed to be made to already published material. * All rights are reserved on the behalf of the copyright holders (authors, publishers). * The adjacent Issue talk: namespace is editable for everyone, comments and discussions are welcome.

== Access and copyright policy == === Private zone === Contains: * The Private: and Private talk: namespaces - for private exchange of ideas, writing of joint texts and collaboration. Proposal: * The zone is public to the Ifigenia community but it is private for the rest of the world * The content is not cached in search engines. * All rights are reserved on the behalf of the contributors. * Doing the same work in a fully public manner is possible in the Draft: / Draft talk: namespaces * If this definition of privacy is not enough private for you, please do not participate: participation is voluntary.

== Access and copyright policy == === Free license CC-BY === The public zone of Ifigenia should be free, and the most convenient choice is Creative Commons – Attribution (CC-BY). When you license works under CC-BY, you allow others to: # use your works in all possible ways (incl. commercially),and # be able to learn from your works, and # modify your works, and # distribute your works in verbatim copy or derivative, as long as the license requirement is observed: * proper attribution to original author(s).

== Software customization == * Namespaces Draft:, Issue: and Private: (and their talks NS) * Several extensions added to the MediaWiki core: ** NewUserLog – log of newly registered users ** CurrentUsers – shows who is online ** CategoryTree – dynamic navigation of the category tree ** ManageCategories – category suggest in edit mode ** LinkSearch – search pages for external links ** SearchSuggest – AJAX-based tool for the wiki search engine ** ParserFunctions – logical functions (for the templates) ** MathStatFunctions – (partial) integration with LaTeX ** LockDown – enables group permissions per namespace

== Software customization == * EmailUser functionality – Wiki e-mail interface * Added new buttons with useful wiki markup constructions * Virtual keyboard with various characters, mathematical and logical symbols and other symbols needed for IFS articles * Templates for index matrices of predicates and arc capacities needed for GN articles * Links to external tools allow ‘translation’ of Word/Excel tables to wiki markup * Customized help pages (still in preparation)

== How can *you* help == * Create and improve new encyclopedic articles. * Encourage your students to contribute, this can be a useful training for them and a test of their comprehension. * Allow pay-free access to your publications and results. * Present your research team: CVs, publications, participation in projects, etc. * Announce forthcoming conferences or projects within the scope of Ifigenia. * Tell your colleagues and coauthors about Ifigenia.

== Thank you for your attention! == Vassia Atanassova * ifigenia.wiki@gmail.com * http://www.ifigenia.org
