1 CODES OF CONDUCT IN GAMES DEVELOPMENT. By Nikku (Nick)

2 RULES INCLUDED IN THE OF CONDUCT  Prior to release of the product it must be rated by PEGI/ESRB and given an assessment file*1.  The assessment file must be used to label the product appropriately and display the correct age rating.  The game must be labelled either 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ or 18+  An administrator must review the product to decide if what rating its given.  If the rating displayed is different to what the administrator decides on the reason must be justified for the difference.  *1: assessment file is a file that describes reasons for a rating given to a product.

3 PENALTIES FOR BREAKING THE SET CODE OF CONDUCT.  If you break the code of conduct PEGI or ESRB can enforce certain penalties on your company or product, these are.  Temporary suspension of your product from being rated meaning you cant legally sell it until its able to be rated.  Mandatory modification of the product and advertisements for the product.  Your company can be disqualified from PEGI/ESRB for a set amount of time. This means you cant sell any products as they wont be rated.  Fines of up to £500,000 depending on the severity.

4 LAWS LIKELY TO AFFECT YOU.  The copyright law means you cant take others people work and claim it as your own, If you did this you could be taken to court for theft of a different company's property.  Data protection act means your responsible for customer data and could be sued if you lose or misuse it, if you misuse the data you could also be sued.  Privacy laws means you cant invade people privacy in any way shape or form, this could result in a large fine if you invade privacy.

5 CONCLUSION  To make sure you don’t break the law or code of conduct you should make sure all content used is your property or licensed to you by its original owner.  you should also have to make sure you don't use content that could offend people or be considered offensive and that you don’t infringe on people rights and you don’t lose or misuse people private data.
