We created fossils out of clay during our Science topic on Rocks & Soils. First we put a lump of clay in a plastic cup. We flattened it down with our fingers. Then rubbed a little petroleum jelly over the clay, to stop it from sticking. Next we pressed an object into the clay. Afterwards, we carefully lift the object out of the clay, leaving the imprint. We mixed the plaster of Paris with Water and then carefully pour the plaster of Paris onto the clay. After a few minutes, we tapped the cup slightly to get any air bubbles out and left it to harden. Once completely dry, we cut the cup and removed it from the clay and plaster. We then lifted the clay away from the plaster of Paris; now we have our fossil!
