Elmo in Use Instructional Uses of Elmo Yea… but watch what I can do! Hey! My name was Elmo first!

Student Working with Document Camera This student is participating in a warm- up activity, using the document camera to record his answer. In this activity, students completed a portion of a “word web” as an introduction to the new vocabulary. Use of the document camera in this manner motivates students to want to participate.
3
Word Web The document camera also helps students be more self-directed and see their responses with a more critical eye. They also can easily see how their answer fits in with the answers of their classmates.
4
Transitioning Using Elmo The document camera makes it easy to transition from the warm-up right into the main lesson. Here I modeled a “think- aloud” strategy.

Self Correcting Student Behavior Although this picture is not very clear, it captures another way that I use the document camera to monitor student progress and behavior. The image on this picture shows a student on task, completing her work. I also have used the document camera to display positive behavior in order to reinforce academic and behavioral skills within the classroom. Students who see themselves projected on the screen gain a deeper perspective and understanding of their actions. Using the document camera in this way can help maintain a proper instructional climate in the classroom.
6
Toggling Although the document camera is behind me, I often use the features of the Elmo document camera to toggle between PowerPoint presentations, Internet sites and projected documents.
