Introduction Setting Florence Italy, 1481-1485. Key Events Medici’s have power in Florence. Pazzi Family second most powerful family. Papacy owes money to Medici’s. Pazzi’s seek union with Medici family.

▪ It is the high of Renaissance Italy. Medici’s claim power to the Florentine throne, and control city affairs. A powerful rivaling family, the Pazzis, are gaining significant wealth, and interest in the rule of Florence. Flora a young daughter to the Pazzi’s and her newly acquainted friend Emilio, have gained suspicion of her father’s activity with the Papacy. Underlying all of this Flora struggles with acceptance of from her family, favoritism of her sister, Domenica, and a new friendship with a Medici son. What’s Happening?

Protagonist & Antagonist Lorenza(Flora) Pazzi Flora is a forgotten daughter, shadowed in the light of her older sister, she is craving to run away to Venice. Her love for her Nonna becomes her will to stay at her home. Lorenzo De Medici Lorenzo is a cruel heir to the throne of Florence. His savage tactics leave a scent of lingering fear. His position in Florence is an envious spot.

The conflict After the failed assassination attempt on the Medici family, plotted by the Pazzi’s, Flora bears witness to the executions and exiles of her family members. She is left devastated with her Nonna dead, and a new love, supposedly dead. Flora must find a way to stay hidden in the city, otherwise she will be executed. She make’s friends with powerful people within the city such as; Botticelli (Patron of Medici’s), Valentini(Sheriff), and Fr. Alberto (Pastor at Duomo).

Domenica Pazzi’s favorable daughter, and most beautiful. Flora show’s resentment for her parent’s favoritism to her. Somewhat ditsy, but feel’s like she is her mother’s doll.

Nonna Only one who truly cared for Flora, cherished and lover her for who she was. Apothecary, and nurse with deep secrets. Flora’s shoulder to lean on when after neglected from parents.

Emilio Messenger boy for Pazzis, who eventually becomes friend with Flora Very defensive of Flora, and becomes very close to Flora. Emilio becomes Flora’s love, and is suspected of dying after conspiracy.

Critiques http://dearauthor.com/book- reviews/review-primavera-by- mary-jane-beaufrand/ Author stated, the Beaufrand’s use of specific detail paints a clear picture of scenes within the book. The narration of Flora is very useful, because her innocence is clearly shown through her narration. The use of Violence was a bit graphic, but appropriate for the time. SIDENOTE: The book is relatively new, only being released 2008. And due to lack of popularity the book is lacking ANY(TRUST ME I LOOKED!) critical analysis. The one link I managed to retrieve was a book review, which was a 3 paragraph article stressing some of author’s views on book. This was also difficult to find, and was the only decent non wiki review I could access freely.
