Fishing activity hours ( fahs ) The first point of a trajectory has 0 fahs A point differing from the previous one for more than 4 hours has 0 fahs. Conclusion We have described a novel method that can be used in a VMS, which relies on a data processing software and an interactive web interface. It allows a user to estimate the fishing monthly effort distribution on an ocean area in terms of the amount of average monthly fishing hours spent by a set of vessels during a certain period.
