Why is it important to have a variety of living things in the Bay? It is important to have a variety of living things in the bay because the ribbon worms are important because they are a food source. The blue crabs are important because they are a food source. The sturgeon can tell when the water is clean. My research will show that ribbon worm, blue crabs are important to the bay.

Ribbon worms are important Ribbon worms are important because they are a food source. They are meat eaters and they feed on bristle. You can find them in the soft sand. They can grow to 1-1/2 inches. There are different type of ribbon worms. Since they are nemertine worms they are soft. They are long and flattened, and look like ribbons.

Blue Crabs Blue crabs are important to the bay because they are a food source. Blue Crabs are crustaceans. They have had shells. They got there name because there blue claws. The main part of there body is bluish green. They go though several stages before they are adults. They are found in meadows of bay grass. They stay in the bay. They have blue bright claws.

Sturgeon The Sturgeon can tell when the water is clean. Large fish that have been around for over 100 million years. They live a long time. They can grow to 15 ft long and weigh over 800 pounds. They live in fresh water to lay their eggs. They used to be common in the bay. Because of fishing, pollution, and dam buildings sturgeons are very rare fish. They are in the dinosaur family.

Conclusion In conclusion I learned that there are a lot of animals in the bay and that they are all important. They all have a role to do in the bay. Some are a food source others keep the bay clean.
