How do we study history? We look at clues from the past. All the clues can be placed into two categories of a historical record.

“Mindwalk Activity” List as many activities as you can remember participating in during the past 24 hours. For each activity on your list write down what evidence might have been left behind.

Answer the following questions: Which of your daily activities were most likely to leave evidence behind and preserved for the future. What would a future historian be able to tell about your life and your society based on your daily activities preserved for the future.

Writing Response Write a paragraph answering the following question. If future archaeologists had the evidence above what could they conclude about your life? What might the evidence tell archaeologists about your family, community, region, and nation?

Artifact activity What might the object have been used for? What does artifact suggest about their abilities? Were they technologically advanced? What climate might they have been in? What caused their disappearance if evident? What name will you give the artifact?
