Shaping questions, influences Are we past the “compliance era” in DRS? How do we balance equity, access and respect for the disability experience alongside regulations/laws? How does and can scholarship from Disability Studies influence DRS practices? Always – what is the purpose of a professional association?

Language of disability to be explored Going beyond “person first” disability language Use of disability language by the association Research about DRS practices Research assistant now on staff Grants and other vehicles for research to define best DRS practices being explored

Expanded international connections New tools for formalized relations with individuals & groups in other countries to align with AHEAD CRPD ratification by US may lead to greater involvement in global inclusive education efforts Increased collaborative work with organizations seeking to expand focus on inclusive education and practices Joint trainings, e.g. NCTA, ACUHO-I

Continued discussions on how to “verify” a disability professional is a disability professional Expanded professional guidance Beyond 2012 documentation Such as Resources for initial student meetings Considering/reshaping messages about disability Creating DRS missions and strategic plans
