Parts of a Sentence Subject: Noun (who or what the sentence is about) Predicate: Verb (tells what the subject does) Jim summoned Charlie with pencils and paper.

What Makes a Simple Sentence? #1 A simple sentence contains one complete thought. Watch me whip. Watch me Nae Nae. A simple sentence can contain a compound subject and a compound verb, but still only has one clause, so it’s simple. Jay and Sam danced and waved their arms.
