Korea and China History China sided with North Korea against South Korea and the UN to drive them out of North Korea during Korean War Sent more than 3 million soldiers called the People’s Volunteer Army In 1961, China and North Korea signed the Sino-North Korean Mutual Aid and Cooperation Friendship Treaty Pledge by China to help North Korea in case of an outside attack. Started mutual economics after Korean war

Relationship Status Past Enjoyed close diplomatic relations Aided each other in the Korean War China start contract with Seoul in May 1983 when a Chinese hijacked airliner landed in Seoul. Since then, relations between South Korea and China have increased

Relationship Status Present North Korea and China are still both communist and South Korea joined the UN China has a growing concern about North Korea’s nuclear weapons, sinking of a Korean ship, holding of Chinese fishing ships, and bombardment of Yeonpyeong (A South Korean city)
