PROVIDING ACCESS TO HIGHWAY 61
4
THE PROBLEM The road is heavily damaged with potholes and broken pavement. As the only access to homes, as a bike route, as one of few access roads to Highway 61 from the neighborhoods, as a road without sidewalks, and as the access to a park and ride it is important despite low traffic numbers. Safety is a concern for pedestrians and for bicyclists.
5
THE SOLUTION Reconstruct the road in two phases beginning with the northern section Reconstruct from Lower Afton Road to Highwood Avenue Plan with pedestrians, bicyclists, resident drivers, and cut-through drivers in mind.
6
THE BENEFITS Despite low traffic counts, this would improve safety for residents and commuters alike Improves functionality of the street as a car and bike route Enhances livability for those along the road Would reduce overall maintenance costs
