History Sir Humphrey Davy and Gay- Lussac and Thenard in 1808. It was named for the Arabic word Buraq and the Persian word Burah.

Uses BBBBoron is obtained by heating borax with carbon. IIIIt is used in pyrotechnics and flares for the green color. IIIIt has also been used as an ignition source. BBBBoron-10 is a good absorber of neutrons and is used in control rods of nuclear reactors.

Facts Boron’s melting point is 2075° C It’s boiling point is 4000° C Only diamond is harder than boron carbide. Boron can be found in foods like pears, apples, nuts, and wine.
