Middle Career In 2003, Ferguson took over the lead female vocal duties for the Black Eyed Peas. In July 2005, she had a guest role on the Rocket Power special, Reggie's Big Beach Break. On Nickelodeon; she voiced a fictitious pop music star named Shaffika. Fergie returned to acting in 2006, appearing in a minor role in the film Poseidon. She later appeared in 2007's Grindhouse.

Career Now Fergie began pursuing a solo career. Her first album was entitled The Dutchess. The solo deal does not mean the end of the Black Eyed Peas, as Ferguson intends to remain with the group, alternating between the two duties. Fergie has had five hit songs from The Dutchess, with "London Bridge", "Glamorous", and "Big Girls Don't Cry" becoming number one singles. On November 18, 2007, Ferguson won the Pop or Rock "Favorite Female Artist" at the American Music Awards. Won the award for best female artist of the year at MTV's Music Video Awards.(2007).

Obstacles Overcome When she was a teenager her parents divorced. During her youth, she was "involved" with members of the Mexican gangs in Hacienda Heights, California. Fergie’s girl music group, "Wild Orchid“ failed. This prompted an emotional crisis and Stacy sought therapy. She left the group shortly thereafter. Fergie started experimenting with drugs in L.A.’s underground music scene at age 18. Fergie became a crystal meth addict. She quit cold turkey and has not touched meth since.

Contributions Fergie and the Black-Eyed Peas have a charity group called ‘Peapod Foundation’. The Peapod Foundation: encourages social change by uniting people, especially children, through the universal language of music. supports programs for children and focusing on universal needs including music/artistic education, shelter/housing and healthcare.

Life Lessons Fergie made a decision to stop doing drugs. She said, “I wasn’t liking who I was.” She told PEOPLE in 2006, “A voice inside of me said, 'Listen, you can choose this path (being drug free).’ So I stopped cold-turkey and came clean with everybody.” Fergie’s message of determination can be applied to many areas of life. The right choice is always there…you just have to make the decision to do it.
