Instead of those text links to Photo Gallery and Recent and Upcoming events, we’re going to use something called rollovers First we will insert the rollover and then we will get rid of the text link First, locate your cursor in the cell you want to work in

Click your mouse for next slide Dreamweaver – Inserting Flash Buttons as Rollovers Now choose the same menu we used in the last lesson – Insert and the Interactive Images choice only this time we will choose the Flash Button option Flash Buttons are small icons which have been set up as something called a rollover. Rollovers are really two images. The second image is displayed when the cursor rolls over the first one and is only slightly different (perhaps the tint of color)

I have chosen a Soft Raspberry in spite of the rather gay color because I am confident in my masculinity!!! You can choose your own.

This is the text you want your button to display Here I have chosen Student Pages and typed it into the text box. I have also hit the Apply button to see how it will look in the document It looks good but if there were too many letters to display I would have to use the Size button to reduce the size of the text displayed

Click your mouse for next slide Dreamweaver – Inserting Flash Buttons as Rollovers Next I want my button to be a link to that page So I chose the Browse button and browsed to the page I wanted to link to. Note that Dreamweaver automatically opens up the browse box to the home folder you chose at the beginning as the folder for your website. These buttons should be save to the root directory of this folder. If you want to do otherwise, you have to change some options

Click your mouse for next slide Dreamweaver – Inserting Flash Buttons as Rollovers The target window is the same as the Flash text target window – this allows your to open up the link in a new window or in the same one – I left it alone for now. The Bg Color window is important if you want your buttons to float on top of your page. Notice how the button is in a little box and the box has some corner that are in a different color then my background color on the page Make the background color of your button the same as your page and your buttons will float nicely on the page

8. Click your mouse for next slide Dreamweaver – Inserting Flash Buttons as Rollovers Now, finally, we have to get rid of our boring old text link, so position your cursor at the beginning of the text and delete it Then go ahead and replace the rest of your buttons with Flash Buttons

Click your mouse for next slide Super Giant Big Fun Assignment Open up your index page Insert Flash Buttons for all text links on the page Make sure your buttons work and link to the pages they are supposed to Make sure they have text labels Make sure that the background color of the button is the same as your page Save your work in your folder and proudly display your page to FST so he can TICK YOU OFF.
