4. Newton’s Second Law F = (m)(a) The unbalanced force acting on an object is equal to the mass of the object times its acceleration. The unit for force is the Newton (N). 1 N = 1kg- m/sec/sec. So a force of 1 N will accelerate a mass of 1 kg at 1 m/sec/sec.
