FITS ENHANCEMENTS DECEMBER 2008

Fits Enhancements Enhancements have been made to FITS for primarily three reasons. –To enhance AOP/Best Guess reporting so the period counts can be broken down by Service Type. –To reduce the amount of monthly data entry you need to do in FITS. –To make it easier to use the AOP Entry screen. To that end, the following changes have been made to the FITS application. –Best Guess period counts will be calculated from projects for all periods for 2008 and later. –Probability And Risk are required for 2008 and later projects. –Service Type added as AOP Entry prompt for 2008 and later. –AOP Screen Redesign to improve ease-of-use.

Best Guess calculated from project counts for all periods. For 2008 and later, you will not need to enter Best Guess period counts. The counts will be calculated from the projects entered in FITS for all periods. Best Guess data entry will not be enabled in the AOP Entry screen. The process that calculates the Best Guess period counts for closed periods will also calculate the Best Guess period counts for open periods for 2008 and later. Projects with a Probability less than 100% or a Risk of Term setting of “Yes” will not be counted. If for some reason accurate Best Guess counts cannot be derived from your FITS projects, contact Tiffany Murray to enable manual Best Guess data entry for your BMU. You will then be responsible for entering/updating the Best Guess period counts yourself, same as you have been doing this past year. This change was made to reduce FITS data entry.

Probability and Risk of Term are required The Probability and Risk of Term fields located on Milestones Screen are now required for any new projects added to FITS and existing projects for 2008 or later. They are not required fields for existing 2007 projects and earlier. This change was made to support calculating Best Guess period counts for open periods.

Service Type added to AOP Entry Screen Service Type has been added as a level for tracking AOP and Best Guess period counts. It is only used for entering data for 2008 AOP or later. In the AOP Entry screen, a Service Type List box has been as a query prompt and a Service Type Column has been added to the Results table. For year 2007 or earlier, the Service Type list box is disabled and the Service Type column in the Results table is removed. This feature has been added because YRI Finance has asked for AOP and Best Guess period counts reporting to include breakdowns by Service Type.

AOP Entry Screen Redesign The AOP Entry dialog has been redesigned to make it easier to read and use. When a Query is run, only the rows that currently exist in the FITS database will be displayed. In the past, all possible rows, based on your prompt selections, were displayed. This was making the results harder to review because of the number of zero-count rows that were being displayed. 2008 AOP has been pre-populated with rows based on the existing 2007 and 2008 projects in FITS to minimize the number of rows that need to be added by you. A splitter bar now separates the Query selection screen (on top) from the Results screen (on bottom). You can display more rows in the Results table by moving the splitter bar up, reducing the amount of scrolling you need to do.

AOP Entry Screen Redesign The Remove Rows button is used to remove the selected rows in the query results table. The Remove Rows button is only enabled when one or more rows in the query results table are selected, and your FITS security privileges allow you to update the Forecast Type (AOP or Best Guess) you are currently viewing. In the FITS database, the AOP and Best Guess counts for a particular Country, Owner Type, Brand, and Service Type combination are stored in different columns within the same database record. This means there are times when AOP or Best Guess row you have selected cannot be removed, but can be cleared.

AOP Entry Screen Redesign The following are examples of what Remove Row Option dialog can look like. The message and options can change based on the row that is being asked to remove.

AOP Entry Screen Redesign The Add Rows.. button is used to add new rows to the query results table. The button is enabled if your FITS security privileges allow you to update the Forecast Type you are currently viewing. When you click on the Add Rows… button, the Add Rows dialog is displayed. The Add Row and Add & Close buttons do not become enabled until all prompts have a value and at least one period has a count greater than zero. You select the BMU, Mini BMU, Country, Owner Type, Brand, Service Type prompt values in top-down order.

AOP Entry Screen Redesign As you select a value for one prompt, the dropdown list below it becomes enabled. If that dropdown list only has one item in it, that item is automatically selected. Once all prompts have a selected value, the Period Counts table is enabled for data entry. The Add Rows dialog prevents duplicate rows from being added. The dropdown list items for the prompts in the Add Rows dialog are populated based on the possible combinations of your original query selections in the AOP screen. Combinations that already have an AOP/Best Guess row are not included in the Add Rows prompt dropdown lists. The Add Row button adds the row to the AOP Query Results table and then clears the Add Rows dialog so you can select a new set of prompt values to add another row. The Add & Close button adds the row to the AOP Query Results table and then closes the Add Row dialog. The Close button closes the Add Row dialog without any further action. New rows added to the Query Results Table are not automatically saved to the FITS database. You must still use the “Save All Tables” button to save your changes.
