1
Equilateral, Isosceles, Scalene, Right, Acute, Obtuse Types of Triangles
2
Classified by side lengths Triangles are classified by their congruent sides A triangle will be equilateral, isosceles, or scalene
3
Equilateral Triangles All three sides have same length All angles measure 60 degrees, always
4
Isosceles Triangles Two sides are equal in length Only two angles have same measure Isosceles, two E's, two congruent sides
5
Scalene Triangles No sides are equal No angles are equal in measure Weird name, weird looking
6
Classified by angle measures Triangles are classified by the measures of their angles A triangle will be right, acute, or obtuse
7
Right Triangles One angle must measure 90 degrees 90 degree angle is called a right angle
8
Acute Triangles All angles measure less than 90 degrees Its angles are so small, isn't is a cute one?
9
Obtuse Triangles One angle measures greater than 90 degrees Cannot have more than one angle greater than 90 degrees
10
Remember This... A triangle has 3 sides 3 angles are made where the sides connect The angles total to 180 degrees; no more, no less The area can be found by taking 1/2 of the base times the height
