Bones We have 206 bones in our body. Our bones keep our body standing. The muscles are joined to the bones. This helps us to move. The femur the strongest bone in our body. The stirrup bone is the smallest bone in our body. It is in the ear.

Leg Our leg is very strong because it has the biggest bone in it called the femur. Our leg bones help us to walk. The femur can hold 4 tonne. There are two bones at the bottom of the leg called Tibia and Fibula. The knee cap is called the Patella.

arm We have 3 long bones in our arms. The names of the bones in your arm are humerus, radius and ulna. The funny bone is not really a bone but a nerve. Our arms help us to balance. The arms are connected to the scapula and clavicle.

back The spine has 26 to 33 vertebrae. The spine holds us upright. The ribs are connected to the spine. The end of the spine is called to tail bone. The spine help to turn our body.

Skull The skulls name is cranium and the jaws name is the mandible. The skull protects the brain like a helmet. The skull only has 1 moving part, the jaw. When a baby is born the skull is in parts. There is a soft spot at the top of the skull where you can feel the brain.

Interesting facts The femur can hold 4 tonne and bones are 6x stronger than steel. There is soft marrow in the middle of the bone. The bone is like honey comb on the inside to make them light. Bones can repair themselves when they get broken. There is blood in the bones.

joints You have six different types of joints. Ball and socket. This is in the hip and shoulder. Knee and elbow are hinge joints. Your neck is a pivot joint your thumbs are the only saddle joints in your body. Joints help hold your bones together
