Basic Facts A person who practices Christianity is called a Christian. The Holy Book for Christians is called the Bible and it is broken into the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Basic Facts The Old Testament tells the story of God’s promises to the Israelites or the Jewish nation. The New Testament, Christians believe, is a fulfillment of all of God’s promises.

Basic Beliefs: Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God and the only way to Heaven is through him. Christians believe Jesus was crucified (hung on a cross) and then resurrected (rose from the dead) three days later. Christians believe that Jesus’ death offers believers forgiveness of sins.

Basic Celebrations Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus.

Basic Celebrations Baptism is an outward symbol to show that the Christian is now a believer and has been given a ‘new life’ through Christ. Communion is also a symbol that encourages believers to remember that Christ’s body was broken for them and that he shed his blood for them.
